Thing is he contradicts himself and renders his conclusion rediculous. On one hand he states that God must be complex because the universe is complex, then turns around and states this somehow proves that something simple made it. Of the several premesis, only one can be observed - that the universe is complex. False premises beget false conlusions. Even if he is correct in his belief, his "proofs" don't cut it.

on dawkinss atheism: a responsemy august 1 essay, philosophy and faith, was primarily addressed to religious believers.
it argued that faith should go hand-in-hand with rational reflection, even though such reflection might well require serious questioning of their faith.

The Bible says YES!
Sorry, I missed the verse that says we have to learn the Bible exactly as the 1 st century Christians did, please list the verse again. BTW, if you are learning the Bible in the same fashion as the early Christians, does that mean you have memorized the Law? How many chapters of Psalms and Proverbs did you memorize? What about the New Testament? That was an improtant part of their Bible training, memorization.
What is your point? Should I throw out my Strong's concordance because it wasn't written until long after Christ? What about the Bible on my computer?

The question is, though, would they ever really learn anything about the Bible by a dependance on these self-appointed Religious leaders? We will learn the answer to that, is an emphatic No!
Wannabe, I will take this to heart and not rely on self-appointed Religious leaders. Therefore, I can only conclude that you are to be ignored as far as any teaching about the Bible goes.

What I find curious is Dawkins assertion that God is complex. Personally, yes. Ontologically, He is a spirit. He has no parts or perhaps a single part. He is of one "substance" - spirit.

Does it not make sense that for one to be taught knowledge of the Bible, today, it would of necessity have to be done in the exact same fashion it was done in the first Century?
No.

Thought Control (A simple test for JW's)
by TD inin george orwell's novel 'nineteen eighty-four' the capitulation of the principal protagonist is portrayed in his willingness to assent to the proposition that two and two make five.
once he had denied objective reality, his mental conquest was complete and he was no longer truly the master of his own mind.
nineteen eighty-four is in many ways, a very depressing read.. a charge commonly leveled at jehovah's witnesses is that the type of mind control envisioned by orwell has been and continues to be used on them.

Fallacy? Do you deny that the WTS says that Russell and crew looked forward to the invisible coming of Jesus? What is the basis for the WTS saying this? If pre-1914 quotes can be found to support the WTS assertion, then they are telling the truth. If none can be found, then the WTS is a liar. It really is that simple. If the WTS were to claim that Mr Russell was Asian, they would be lying. Facts are what they are.
Why are you quoting from a Rutherford book when it is Russell’s writings that are in question? I have no problem in granting that Russell and his Bible students were sincere. Or that Dubbers since have been and are sincere. However, the WTS is lying about Russell’s teachings. It is that black and white. Are you saying that the WTS is honest about Russell? If so, then produce the proof.
Or, is your last post a tacit admission that the WTS is wrong about Russell?

Umm…. Alice? Do you realize that you are quoting from the 1921 edition of the Harp of God? Please, please, pretty please quote from pre-1914 books that show that they said that Jesus was coming back invisibly in 1914. We all know that the WTS claims they made such predictions, please show us that the predictions were made. After all, if the WTS says they did, then you should have problem finding the quote. Right?

Reslight, just a matter of curiosity so I can put your posts in context: Am I correct to say that you have a high level of respect for Charles Russel, but reject the JW's as legitamate heirs of his legacy?

While the WTS may get some things correct regarding creationist thought, what I have seen of Dubs trying to explain it leaves me to strongly believe the WTS does more harm than good. They are too lazy to do the research.
